The Benefits of IVF Abroad

With travel now back to normal, IVF treatment abroad is once again becoming an option for many patients, but what are the benefits?

For most people, their budget is the most important thing. If you are likely to need more than one cycle, then cost will most definitely play a part. In the UK, it seems that prices start at around £4,000 (excluding medication). If you go abroad, then ICSI could set you back as little as 2,750 euros (excluding medication), this is around £2,405. What a saving! However, you’ll need to factor in travel and accommodation. Your clinic may be able to help you with this, as many offer hotel discounts or packages.

Why not take the opportunity to carry out your treatment in a relaxing environment, away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. Many clinics offer you the option to either start at home or carry out the whole treatment with them. If you decide to go down this route, then you’ll have the added advantage of having medical assistance at hand. You also won’t need to squeeze in appointments between working hours, nor will you spend too long waiting for test results.

Carrying out all of your treatment abroad can also help your pockets. Medication is often cheaper and most clinics offer free scans, face-to-face consultations and discounted testing. Just another reason to combine your fertility journey with your holiday.

Unlike the UK, having treatment abroad isn’t dependent on a postcode lottery or a waiting list. Simply contact your chosen clinic at least 3 months before you wish to start treatment and you can start to plan your first steps with them. If you know which tests are required, be sure to have them carried out that way the doctor can give their opinion. We’d recommend AMH (Anti Mullerian Hormone Test), AFC (Antral Follicle Count) scan, and for the men Semen Analysis.

Your journey will be an exciting yet nerve-wracking time so just trust in your clinic and let them work their magic.

Fertility clinics abroad will also offer things that others can’t. Family balancing is one of those things. It is becoming more and more popular across certain sections of society and patients will gladly travel for it. Age restriction can also play an important part, in the UK, there is a cut off. However, a number of clinics that we work with are happy to help ladies of up to 50 achieve their fertility dream.

If, for any reason, donation treatment is a requirement, then IVF abroad could be for you. The process is a lot quicker, with a wide range of donors ready to donate. If, for any reason, a donor that meets your requirements can’t be found, don’t worry, it’s also ok for eggs or sperm to be shipped from authorised banks. Please be aware, however, that government regulations regarding import may delay your treatment process, There can sometimes be a lot of red tape. In some instances, it’s quicker and easier to start over.

Taking into account all of the above, it’s easy to see why treatment abroad seems so appealing. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.
