The beginning
Our embryo adoption journey started with Kate at Procreate. She was brilliant, any questions I had (and there were a lot), she either had the answer to or found it for me.
It was a scary process but it was easy. I spoke a lot with the clinic and they made sure that I had all the right tests carried out. When it came to the treatment plan, the medication was a little difficult to find in the UK, but I persevered and got over all of the hurdles. The biggest problem was that the generic names for some of the drugs are different in the UK and Spain. The staff at URE were just an email away to help me out with any medication questions I had. My advice would be, if you are unsure, then just ask your clinic.
Preparing to travel
Once the clinic confirmed my transfer date, it was time to make travel arrangements. The clinic were on hand with hotel recommendations. I was a little nervous about flying on my own but I had no choice, it was half term and flights to Spain were not as cheap as they would be out of season. However, my friend of a similar age had been through exactly the same experience but without a partner. I thought if she can do this alone, then I can do this with my wife and child waiting back home for me.
Transfer day
Wednesday evening soon arrived, I took the flight and then a taxi to my hotel, which was about 30 minutes from the airport. The next day was transfer day, at exactly 11am. The staff at the clinic were very kind and made me feel so relaxed. After my transfer, I decided to totally relax and spent the day sitting at the beach, which is right opposite the clinic. It was such a beautiful day that I was there until 6 or 7 p.m.; I even managed to eat there. My flight home wasn’t until 7.30am the next morning so I just chilled in my room for the rest of the night watching some movies I had downloaded. The taxi arrived for me at 6am and I was back in England by 9am Friday morning.
